Welcome to Siren and Rose. My name is Megan, I'm a twenty four year old writer and costume enthusiast in the process of moving from the city to Cornwall with my husband, Grant. We lived in Bath through university and the years following our graduation, however we yearned for a slower pace of life in Cornwall, so when the stars aligned and we found ourselves in the position where the move was possible we decided to do exactly that.

Like many people our age, we're in the midst of scaling back our lifestyle and expenses in a campaign to save for a house of our very own. That's where this blog comes into play. From 2011 through to 2015 I wrote a fashion and lifestyle blog, however I fell out of love with it when my focus unintentionally diverted from my love of photography and writing to sponsorships, reviews, and keeping other people happy. I was no longer writing for myself, so I figured it was time to close that door for a while and focus on alternative creative pursuits.

Now that I've had some time to explore my creativity and get my head around who I am as I approach my mid twenties, I feel the desire to blog again. I want to document this transitional time in our lives, and share my experiences as we save for a house whilst living our new coastal life to the fullest.

Second to writing, my other creative passion is costuming (or cosplay). Whilst on my hiatus from blogging I decided to get involved with a new community that I'd first encountered years ago, but never had the nerve to participate in. Cosplay is the practice of dressing up as fictional characters, and often involves crafting costumes yourself and attending events such as conventions. Over the last few years I've taught myself how to sew, craft, and style wigs, and I'll regularly attend events where I'll occasionally compete in my designs. I'm still a certified amateur, however I've fallen in love with it nonetheless. You can see more on my Facebook page - Disney characters are my speciality!

My life is all about simple everyday pleasures, adventures with loved ones, and the odd bit of fantasy escapism through my writing and costumes. It's taken me a long time to find happiness, however I've realised that it's grounded in far smaller, more mundane things than I had once believed; long afternoons spent sewing, quality time with family, and all things pink! I'm very excited to have a place where I can share all that and more.
